In continuous effort to educate public on road safety awareness, PBSB has successfully embarked into road safety awareness programmes with three groups of participants namely Penang Youths Council, SMK Seberang Jaya in Seberang Perai and SMK Datuk Haji Mohd Nor Ahmad in Gelugor in April 2011 as part of its CSR with the local community and to promote safety amongst the bridge users.
As a start, PBSB has organized a programme with Penang Youth Council on 2 April 2011. The programme begin with departure of 100 units motorcycles convoy dressed in PBSB’s safety vest from Tapak Pesta Sg. Nibong crossing the Penang Bridge to Block D, PBSB office. The convoy which was led by PDRM marshals, Penang Bridge Ronda and official vehicles from Penang Youth Council arrived at Block D, PBSB office at 11.00am and was warmly welcomed by PBSB’s Deputy Senior Manager, En Asnor Ali and all working committees.
Some 130 members of youths took part in the convoy and talk programme which aims at developing and further enhancing road safety awareness among the participants while on the road.
Whilst, the programme with more than 200 students of SMK Seberang Jaya in Seberang Perai and SMK Datuk Haji Mohd Nor Ahmad in Gelugor were also successfully organized on 20 April 2010 on 27 April 2011 respectively. The students which is in Form 4 and Form 5, were addressed more on lack of safety awareness and measure to be undertaken in ensuring road safety among the young generation to be shared with their family members and friends. Each officer from the agency involved issued with an information pack filled with ideas and advice on ways to get everyone in the school thinking about road safety.
Both youths and students group were also exposed to the road safety exhibition by PBSB and the participating agencies at the end of the programme. |
