To monitor traffic flow and Bridge security, we have a 24-hour closed circuit television (CCTV) camera installed at 9 locations along the laybys and main span. The CCTV cameras are connected to our Penang Bridge Communication Centre. There were 5 units CCTV camera installed at mainland and 5 units at Penang Island to enhance traffic monitoring surveillance service and response time to serve users in time of incident or congestion.

Our Bridge are also equipped with 12 emergency telephones (ET) which are located along both bounds at 1.2 km intervals on Bridge laybys and the Main span. This facility allows communication between ET call box and the control center at PBCC. Motorists who are in need of assistance can call our BRIDGELINE at
1300-1300-03. Our 24-hour bridge patrolling vehicles can handle minor breakdowns. There are 12 laybys on the Bridge of which 1 breakdown layby each at Prai (mainland) and Gelugor (Island)

We provide 10 lanes for motorcycle and 14 lanes for other classes of vehicles that give motorists a choice of two drive-through options using SmartTAG and Touch ‘n Go. As part of our enhancement effort to upgrade the toll payment service, we have designated 2 SmartTAG lanes and 3 Touch ‘n Go lanes for the motorist of Class 2 vehicles and 2 lanes for motorcycle respectively. However, payment by cash is acceptable at all lanes excluding the SmartTAG lanes.
