Penang Bridge Communication Centre (PBCC)

Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd (PBSB) has established Penang Bridge Communication Centre (PBCC) - a comprehensive monitoring and communication centre for Penang Bridge. PBCC is equipped with 24-hour closed circuit television (CCTV) camera installed at 24 locations; 5 units at mainland, 5 units at Penang Island and 14 units others along the bridge at laybys and main span. With these facilities, we are able to enhance our Traffic Monitoring Surveillance Service and Response Time to serve users in time of incident or congestion.

Penang Bridge Ronda

Penang Bridge has set up an in-house patrol team known as Penang Bridge Ronda. There were 24 personnel employed to perform 24-hour patrolling and towing services as well as evacuation process within the concession area with 8 personnel at a particular 8-hour shift.

The Penang Bridge Ronda manning the traffic during normal flow, peak hours and during event to mitigate disruption to the traffic flow with a benchmark of 20  minutes  evacuation time.   

From 6.00am to 8.00am on weekdays, 2 personnel are stationed at the approaching of toll plaza to manage the enforcement of time restriction for heavy vehicle and slow moving vehicle.  The provision of assistance for the replacement of tire tube for tire puncture cases on the bridge and involvement in the road safety campaign during festive season in collaboration with JKJR were part of the CSR of Penang Bridge Ronda for the Penang Bridge users.

Gazette

Time Restriction was gazette on 15th August 2008 for the heavy vehicle and slow moving vehicle. The purpose of gazette this Time Restriction is to avoid traffic congestion during     peak hours by prohibiting Heavy Vehicle to use the bridge from 6.30 am to 8.30 am in the morning and 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm in the evening whereas from 6.00 am to 12.00 am for Slow MovingVehicle.
